What is Genetic Testing?
Drug-gene testing is also called pharmacogenomics, or pharmacogenetics. All of these terms characterize the study of how your genes affect your bodies metabolize medication, based on your genetic makeup.
What Does the Testing Involve?
It is a test that can be done through a blood test or a saliva test. At Clarity Health Solutions we utilize the less invasive saliva test. The tests are sent to the laboratory and they provide a summary that determines which medications metabolize most effectively. They do this according to the variants of our genes. Ultimately, it determines which medicine is recommended and which is not recommended to prescribe the patient, later the laboratory sends the results to the doctor and an appointment is scheduled to discuss the results and develop a plan for potential changes in medication.
Why Should I get the Test?
The genetic test helps us to tailor medication regimens for patients more effectively based on metabolic rates. So, patients get faster relief from their depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, Post Traumatic Disorder (PTSD), along with other painful emotions.
